efense to make their arguments regard
ing the
transfer of the Al-Aziza and Flagship ref
erences.
Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris argued that the cases should be
transferred because the Avenfield verdict has shown the kind of legal reason
ing the Judge Mohammed Bashir is an advocate of and that these cases require more scrutiny.
Justice Aurangzeb further questioned the d
efense if they had submitted their appea
ls to the Supreme Court, to which the d
efense replied that the Supreme Court chose not to entertain their request. The counsel further argued that the investigation officers in all three cases are different while the d
efense and their witnesses remain the same.
Haris also informed the court that Panama JIT’s Wajis Zia’s cross examination is currently ongoing with regard to the Al Aziza flagship ref
erences.
